skin.jpgMack has a large pink area going down his back. It dont seem to be itching or bothering him in any way at all. What could this be? Should I worry or is it normal for white coats to have areas like this? Also on his sides he has 2 pink quarter sized spots that look dry and hair is thinned out on and around them. I would post a pic, but he hates to sit for them.lol I had to get these while he was napping.

Matilda is all white too, and sometimes will have a bit of yellow or pink to her back - just like that. However, the second picture does look at bit irritated... I would take him to the vet to make sure. It could be a staph infection.

it appears to be thinning hair if I'm not mistaken, do you bathe him alot or brush his back alot, he may not need to be groomed so often,
often times I use a wet towel and just wipe down the back and belly and feet. They get bathed about 4 times a year or as needed, no more

OH AND, Matilda ALSO had thinning hair as a result of a staph infection! It wouldn't go away until she was put on antibiotics!!

It could be from the food he is eating. Certain foods will make the white on Lucy turn kind of pink.

My brothers dog had the same thing, the vet says it could be a mixture of no sun, vitamin d or early alopecia
Hope all is well

A trip to the vet for a skin scraping is an inexpensive way to remove all doubt. If whateveritis must be treated, it will only get worse (and more expensive and more uncomfortable for the dog) if left untreated. Knowing is peace of mind!

this could be several things but only way to know really is a vet visit. is it food is it staph is it something else. you could put some hibiclenz on it and see if it helps but a vet visit is the only way to know for sure.
