I love Atticus so much and potty training is going great. He is just smelly in general except for the day he has a bath and maybe the day after. I live in an apt which now smells completely like dog! I launder his bedding and clean his toys on a regular basis, but I was wondering if there is anything else I can use or do to get my apt back to it's people smell lol.

Dogs don't need to smell at all, again it all comes down to what you are feeding him. No amount of washing or shampoo is going to keep it away.

Jack is about the same... He'll smell like vanilla & oatmeal for about 2 days
Then his dog scent comes back ..
He's Been like this ever since a puppy regardless of his food
(and he's had them all ..! Just ask @cowsmom)

I take its just a bulldog thing...

It may also depend on his execise outside and if he lies on the grass and such..
You know, the grass may seem nice and green and fresh to us but its actually a dog's toilet !!

I agree it comes down to the food. Heres what I do for the house. I steam clean once a week and use scensty or bath and body burners all the time. I have people come in here and say if I didnt know better I would say you didnt have dogs.

As for the dogs, I can go a month or more without bathing them. Just wipe them down occasionally

Bulldogs do have a distinct smell about them, but it's not that bad. Some peeps bathe them once or twice a month. I wouldn't bath them more than that because it can dry their skin out too much. We only bath ours maybe twice a year if that much. We just wipe them down sometimes and keep their faces, nose rope and tail pockets clean. Steam clean the floor maybe once a week and use Scentsy.

When we first got our pup, he was being fed Nutros puppy food. He was always smelly and so was my house. I was bathing him weekly and washing everything often and still smelly. Then we switched him to Fromm's grain free beef frittata. With a month his smell was gone. I now only bathe him once every 4-6 weeks and wash his bedding every couple of weeks. Best of all my house doesn't smell stinky and neither do I after playing with the pup!

Aubie gets smelly because she loves to go outside and get in her pool. We wipe her down and have a powder smelling spray to use on her when she goes out or gets too smelly between baths. The worst thing about her is her face wrinkles. We have to stay on top of those because the heat here makes them wet and smelly really fast. We are going to switch her from Merrick to Fromm Salmon Tunalini Grain Free this week so I am hoping that helps her tear stains and their smell because Fromm helped a ton with Aubrey's.

First off he is adoraBULL!!! love all his wrinkles. I use wipes often with Gunner, and I try and clean his room and change my air condition filters more frequent and my vacuum bags. It seems to help. I have a neighbor who's son got rid of his bulldog over the smell and I guess each nose is different, but I prefer Gunner at his worse; than smelling a house reeking of other things.

If there is a skin issue there will likely be a much worse smell. I saw you are changing dog food... Which did you choose? I would also recommend Pharmeseb shampoo, it's anti bacterial and anti fungal and keeps them smelling fresh longer--- perfect for your situation for sure!!!

I think the smelliest part of a dog is the feet and face, keep those things clean and dry, you should notice a huge change. Also I'm holding a Scentsy , Bulldog Fundraiser until Thursday, there's a thread that desertskybulldogs has listed about a week ago, if you are interested, feel free to check it out.

He is so sweet! My baby bully just smells like puppy breath. It probably is the food you're feeding him. She gets a special brand made by her vet (who is an EB specialist), but she used to eat the Fromm's variety and never smelled.

We don't have a yard so she uses a fake grass potty patch and she only smells when she decides to roll in it. Disgusting. :nope:
