I figured the weather isn't so bad so why not take Raven for her first official walk around the block. Wait did I say walk, what I should have said was carry. Since we brought her home I have confined her to the yard until she has all her shots. The minute we get outside she froze up, the passing cars scared the beejebus out of her and she wanted no part of it. So I picked her up and carried her midway down the block, whereupon she immediately refuses to walk and goes for her first attempt at breaking and entering into a neighbors home. I had to carry her back up the half a block. I sat on the front steps with her hoping she would get used to the passing cars.

Guess it's going to take a lot of carrying before I can get in any nice strolling. I even went so far as to bring out her sister. Funny to see the two and a quarter pound yorkie ready to go wherever and take on the world and here I am carrying her sixteen pound sister around.

Hoping she can get with the program before I herniate a disc in my back. Any suggestions are welcome.

They are scaredy dogs! Every night..I have to safely escort Jake by the horrible, scary, dangerous and possibly serial killer BROOM! I literally have to put my body between him and that dastardly broom...just so he can go to bed! :bang:
Just take it slow nd let her get used to outside noises. Try small steps and home...lengthening each time! Before you know it...you could be pushing a 50 lb bully in a doggie stroller!

Yes, Frank hates walks. And he is scared of everything. But VERY food motivated, so we bring a whole pocketful of treats to keep him going!

Georgia loves being outside. I can't take her out of our backyard yet. Because the vet can't get her in until March 5th. Which is very frustrating :begging:. I just wish she would quit pooping everywhere. I have done everything I can think of. Poor thing has had more baths in 3 days then most just to keep her white.... Good luck on the walking. I hope I don't run into the same thing when I start walking her. I would give anything for her just to sleep through the night. I am at my wits end :cursing:

All my dogs started out that way at first. Scared of moving cars and unfamiliar places, loud children and their bouncing balls. LOL You wouldn't know it now as they jockey to get into position at the front door. I only walk one at a time because they are so strong and strong willed and love to chase cats even though we have four cats at home! Now I have to flip a coin as to who goes first. :) I never used treats but just started with short walks and gradually increased the distance.

MissPennyLue..she is very food driven. I can see it now, 25 pounds of treats later we will have made it around the block.
@2bullymamma..definitely a good bit of traffic. The street in front of our house is kind of busy so I waited until the night time to do it. I asked my eldest daughter to sit with her outside for at least ten minutes a day as soon as she gets home, that way it's daytime and she can slowly get used to it.
Georgiasmom...nothing like a hot steaming pile in the house. That is why I need her to get walking. It will be the best way to really empty her so we can have less accidents in the house.
JAKEISGREAT..my auntie just sent me a message on facebook telling me to buy her a stroller to save my back :whew:

That is so true. I am ready to take her for walks. Just the pile of hot steaming poop when you come in from a hike makes for a not so great home coming! :lmao:

Yep it's a beautiful thing when I walk her in the yard and she runs back to the house. Silly me thinking that was all she had to do since she did run back to the house, only to turn around two minutes later to smell like something died.

You know it's weird, my yorkie eats the same exact food, yet when they poop it's a heck of a different smell. Raven's poo smelled like something died and there is absolutely no smell from Bubbles. One of the main perks of feeding a really good food is that you get less poo and the smell shouldn't be so bad..ay I am waiting on the smell to not be so bad

They are trully scaredy cats!!!! I think the treats are a great idea and the little red wagon just in case!!

I am getting the red wagon for me. She is going to have to pull me around. God knows my back won't last that long. She is so spoiled, she likes to be carried like you carry a baby when you burp them. I wonder where in the human training manual it showed her to get away with that one.
