I need an expert advice immediately and i canāt seem to find someone in my area who is an expert with english bulldogs. I live in Mumbai india and there arenāt too many vets around who know much about English bulldogs.
Frooti is 3 years and old she has been recently diagnosed with pyometra. I have consulted with a few veterinarians around my area who suggest i take her to the best. Now having done that, i am not happy because the surgeon suggests we carry out a major surgery and remove her uterus and that's scheduled for tomorrow at noon. I am not going to do it anymore after reading a few articles on different websites that suggest anesthesia on bulldogs can be lethal if its not done properly. I dont want Frooti to die because of any wrong reason on our final call.
The sonogram report shows small 4 blood sacs that might have occurred due to urinary track infection. We noticed blood in the urine and carried out immediate blood tests this morning. The Kidney and liver functions are all normal within range. The WBC count is high on 24300. The RBC,hemo and other parameters are all normal.
Frooti can hog all day long, but she's been rejecting food past 3 days now and drinks a lot of water than normal. With 500mg amoxyclin shots past 3 days, the vets been trying to keep her away from any infection.
Behavior : She been slower than normal for the past 5 days now. She pooped little, but been urinating more than normal. The stomach feels hard and slight blot up than normal. I saw her jump at me while throwing darts which is her usual habit yesterday. She is partly active. Today she walked with me outside very slower than normal. I feel worried.
Tomorrow I am taking the reports with me for a second opinion from another surgeon at the Veterinary Hospital. I doubt they've dealt with too many bull dogs before. Its very rare in india. I hear there are less than 30 in all of our country and i dont know of anyone other than a breeder who seems most sensible. He suggests not to put her under knife and give her 250mg amox tablets for a few more days 1-1/day to have it flushed out.....athough i dont know if that will be help. The amox shots are on past 4 days now.
Are there any laproscope procedures that are possible without having to cut her open? or any other methods at all ?
