The original post has been removed. In regards to it being "slander", your name, nor the name of the kennel was mentioned in any posts, including the first post.

Re: Responses to a puppy that died---original posting removed

Chad,
What I stated was that in this thread, all posts including the original post did not name your kennel, which not one of them did, or ever did. Nor did it have a link to your kennel. Any topics that have been previously posted that may or may not have named your kennel have been removed from the site already, and have been removed for quite sometime. So in this particular thread, there was no slander whatsoever.

Whether or not the original posting would have been considered slander depends on whether the post was telling the truth or not. The topic and discussions in both threads have been removed.

The user who originally posted has asked to be removed from the site. I don't know who is telling the truth and who is not- but either way I just hope that the bulldogs are safe, happy, healthy, and well cared for. That is what matters in the end.

It will be up to each individual who came across these topics to come to their own conclusions regarding this matter.

I for one am sorry for any slander on either side. It is very sad to me to think that someone can make up a whole story and get people emotions so riled up for what? I dont know which side to believe either but it does seem to me that you are here standing your ground trying to prove your innocence and most puppy mills etc wouldnt bother. This is props to you anyhow for standing up for yourself. It is unfortunate that someone would even think to come on here and flat out lie about something that we as bully lovers take SO personally and if that is the case then I am disgusted completely. It is true many can and will come to these places and fabricate stories for what I dont understand, but it happens. The puppies being safe and healthy is the important thing here BUT as you said you are human with family and feelings and that is not to be disregarded either. We all have families here and would NEVER want to have our names thrown out like trash either so for that I am sorry especially if it is untrue.

I'm so very sorry about all of this... I'm not sure who posted this. It must have been someone that I went to for advice on the situation before. I have no idea what else I can even do besides post this a retraction on my behalf.

My name is Amanda. I am the owner of Maggie. The postings made regarding Maggie were not made by myself. I did not drive out to see Chad, whom I bought Maggie from. This posting was not made by me, Maggies owner, and as such this posting is a complete lie. I apologize to Chad at sumobulldogs for the grief this has caused him. I am very sorry for whoever posted this against him. What was written is NOT true. Chad has bent over backwards to be helpful in this difficlt situation.

Just to chime in and respond to some of your concerns, I don't think everyone (or anyone really) was sympathetic after reading what you've cut and pasted above. I cannot speak for everyone, but I believe it raised many eyebrows and was not responded to with total support.

People were sympathetic to this person receiving what looked like a very ill puppy and spending thousands on vet care to have it pass away. For many of us, myself included, the tale of what happened to poor Maggie was the most troubling part. I personally do not really care if this person was at your house, or your friend's house, or whatever - what I do care about and was does raise ire is the idea of sick bulldog puppies being bred and sold.

I do not think any more he said/she said is useful at this point but I agree with Desertsky's point that everyone's main concern was what happened to Maggie, not what happened afterward - and to avoid that situation with future bulldog puppies.

Yeah, internet is great. People can do tons of things anonamously. Like steal from your bankaccounts and hijack credit card numbers. There are things that are just plain unfair in this world. We removed the original post when it was 1) asked of us 2) became clear it could very well be untrue. By "cutting and pasting" the original post back on here, it is now viewable to everyone. Again. I'm lost as to what is trying to be accomplished here. Not everyone believed the original post and some of us probably thought "uh, yeah. right". More than a few "eyebrows" were raised, I'm sure.

I understand that you want something done because this person slandered your name and your family's name. That's for you to do legally. We did our part by removing all questionable posts. The person's account was even deleted.
Why wasn't something done sooner? Well, until you took action, it wasn't slander. It was a heartbreaking story being told by a person claiming to have lost a puppy and her journey to right a wrong. Her story was hers to tell. Slander is saying of something false and malicious. We didn't know it was false. I hope you're able to see that the Admins on this site acted quickly in removing all original posts when the post became questionable.
I can only hope that this will clear up the obvious slander and will help spur some new rules. Perhaps an appropriate change in the rules might be that if a person is going to name and slander another person, website or breeder, that they be not be permitted to do so anonamously. Perhaps a negative post about another person would be required to be accompanied by the posters full name and contact information.
It isn't obvious to me either way. We don't allow people to slander on this site. If it's discovered or pointed out, the post/thread is dealt with.

I don't side with either party. I, also, don't know who to believe. I can say that I hope anybody that goes out of their way to ruin someone's reputation, get what they deserve. I agree with the above posts....the most important thing here is that the bulldogs in question are all actually healthy and happy. We are an English Bulldog site, we advocate for English bulldogs. We all love the breed. Although I have sympathy for what you are saying, that is nothing that is going to be resolved here.
I do hope you will be able to pursue what you need to pursue outside of this forum...I also hope that you will continue to visit the site as a member and post helpful and encouraging info for those who seek us out. As for the remaining stuff, it's almost pointless. We already have rules in place, those who don't abide....there are actions that are taken.
As for you and your family....I really hope you find this person you say is slandering you. I hope you are able to confront them and get the situation dealt with. No one should have to defend themselves against untrue accusations. I hope you are able to resolve this, however you choose.

This is not my fight to fight.......The original post was removed. You said/she said.......I get it. It was removed. We thought it would put it to rest, but someone reposted the original post. Would you like us to remove it again?

These are the forum rules, I do understand your side and opinion on this. However, if we required such a stipulation, how can we prove the name/contact phone number are also real? Many of the previous complaints on this board have proven to be legitamate.

I do not know you- or the original poster- and I also do not know if you are a puppy mill, broker, importer- I have not been to your home.
I do not know if you are lying, or if she was. I do not know if you have scared the jeebies out of her to take back everything that she said.
And at this point I do not care, because all I know is that a puppy may have died, and either way- this is upsetting. I guess at this point we will never know the real truth.

Now, about this forum.
This forum is a free board and the rules are in place. This topic has been removed now twice, yet you continue to bump this topic up and keep it going. I just do not understand this. I however left your final post so that you could have your say so. And you did.

This is also the first time anything like this has happened here. We are a sharing site, and our members here do not wish to spend time dealing with drama. Which is why noone is responding to this topic. They would rather talk about their bulldogs, share stories, health concerns, ect.

This will be the last post I make on this subject. And yes, we are discussing this topic and what can be done in the future. I know the regular members here are certainly going to be more weary of sob stories from here on out.

Here is the basic part of our forum rules, (in plain english), if you do not like these rules and do not wish to be a part of this site, we can deactivate your account.

Although the administrators and moderators of the English Bulldog News Community will attempt to keep all objectionable messages and posts off this forum, it is impossible for us to review every message, topic and post. Someone has high expectations for a public forum on a free site....To me, it's pretty obvious that someone has it out for you and is looking to smear your name. Nothing would have made me happier than to tell the world about the breeder who sold me a dog that almost died, and then left me to foot the entire bill. And had Lola died, I certainly would have done that. If you're the responsible breeder you claim to be, then I assume this occurrence isn't common practice, and you could probably figure out who would want to smear your name if you thought about it long and hard.
For all we know here at the englishbulldognews.com forum, you could be arf3420. Maybe you created a profile as "Amanda" and posted here as an attempt to clear your name. I hope that's not true, but it's the internet, and for every truth, there're probably 10 lies. It's up to the reader to form an opinion.
I completely agree with jillh10. You're not going to find sympathy here. This is a site for people who love the English Bulldog breed. And while I certainly agree it's wrong to spread lies (if that's what happened), I personally couldn't care less how this effects your business. A couple random posts by some angry customer on one website is not going take down your business. I, like the administrators, who've handled this whole matter respectfully and politely, care only that the bulldogs are safe and well-cared for.
