Thanks for the compliments on the yard. It's an ever evolving work in progress. We both enjoy having a nice yard with a lot of flowers and ponds and add something new every year (there are actually two more small raised goldfish ponds in the back yard) Eventual plan is NO lawn...all plantings. We're 'almost there' The front yard is grass free except the street easement (that's going grass free soon). Of course we're going to have to retrain Gracie to "go" on another surface at some point to keep with the plan.
good for you for going "grass free", people spend so much time, $, and dangerous pesticides on lawns these days! my parents have a fish pond in their yard, and Horse loves to drink the pond water! When he was a puppy and my son was a year old, they both walked right into the pond not realizing it was 3 ft deep and they couldn't touch. We now have to be just as careful as if we had a pool in our backyard, with the two of them! No matter how hard my son tries to "teach" him, Horse just CAN'T swim! As soon as I have the money, they first thing I'm buying is a life jacket for Horse!
the bond between a child and their dog is beyond words...
