In November Griffin had a consult with dr Sardinas, board certified surgeon, at Miami Veterinary Specialists this morning.
We are looking at a definite need for palate and nares surgery. His left ear is probably going to need an ear ablation surgery; it's so stenotic that it is unlikely it will respond to medical management. But that decision is still pending.
To reduce the risks of infection and have the best post surgery prognosis, dr sardinas wants to hold off scheduling the palate surgery for a couple of weeks as we continue to treat the skin infections we're dealing with. Griffin has come a long way in two weeks but his condition upon intake was very severe.
As a paramedic, Lori's main job is rescuing people. But as a bullie lover, she recently stepped in to rescue Griffin when she encountered him neglected living in a backyard and arranged his surrender. She contacted BTB and we joined forces to start much needed veterinary treatment.
His feet were puffy and oozing infection, his eyes and ears very infected. And he will probably need palate surgery. We are all amazed that he survived and didn't have a heat stroke. He has improved greatly in Lori's care since we started treatment but has a ways to go. Palate consult with specialist is on for Monday. He's a very sweet fellow who will be a high maintenance Bullie most likely even after his current issues are addressed.
