This week has been strange, Vegas's face has been EXTRA smelly, I have washed his face every night with solution from out vet. About half hour ago, he jumped up to sit with me on the couch and I said "wow, you stink bad!" (I just washed his face last night). I went to scratch his ear and.... his ear was wet!! I lifted his ear and looked and it is so red and so smelly and gunk coming out of it!!!!!

HOW did I miss this??? Not once have I seen him rub or even itch his ear!!! Of course I called our Vet and they are closed. I am so hoping I can get him in first thing in the morning!! Until then, I took him outside and did a good flush with the flush from our vet. I massaged it in real good to loosen things up. I am going to wait a bit and clean it out real good and I did find some Otomax from before just a few drops left.

I feel sooooo bad!!! I don't know how in the world I missed this!!!! Any suggestions as to what I can do to make him more comfortable for tonight??? He isn't acting any different, not even rubbing his ear. He is eating and drinking as normal. I am feeling pretty crappy right now for missing this.

It's been 2 weeks on these raw patties. So far no physical reactions at all. No vomiting, diarrhea, no shivering. I might even be tempted to say that her whole attitude has changed too. There's a bounce in her step that I've not seen before and her belly is turning pink again. This is fanfreakintastic! But OMG does she smell. Her hair feels oily and it stinks like old gym socks. Could this be from the turkey? I haven't changed anything else about her diet other than adding these patties to her sweet potato mash.

Yep. OATS. Abby has them and she's feeling them. She's gonna feel my shoe on her butt if she doesn't stop eating them lol (not really, but it felt good saying it )

Past week or so she is obsessed with shoes. It doesn't matter if they're on your feet or not. These used to be my new shoes. I haven't even worn them yet. :cursing:

<img src="http://www.englishbulldognews.com/forums/attachments/general-bulldog-talk/21254d1337359822t-oats-imagejpeg_2_3.jpg" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version
She will stop if you're firm about it but don't turn your head because she'll attack them again. My son came home from school yesterday, where's Abby? She's hunched under the coffee table, butt in the air, ready to pounce on his feet. And like a cat, blink and you miss it, she jumps into the air and landed mouth on sneaker. By the time I thought to grab the camera it was over.

Lady Abigail is wearing me out

I know that a lot of food is trial and error as each bulldog is different, but I cannot seem to make up my mind on what to try first. I've been looking at Fromm, Merrick, Earthborn, Blue Buffalo, and Taste Of The Wild. ToTW is probably last on my list at the moment because of the recalls. I can get Earthborn, Blue Buffalo, and ToTW locally, which is a big plus. Fromm and Merrick would require about an hour drive if I didn't order on line. The breeder that we're using gives her dogs Eukanuba and I'd like to change our puppy over to something better after she's been home for a couple of weeks. Just wondering what you guys would recommend for a puppy and how long to keep them on puppy food. Thanks!

I am getting a decent severance package and am on recall status but it still saddens me. My company is struggling and several other people got the axe today too.
Anyway... I'm going to spend tonight cuddling with Herschel and eating copious amounts of ice cream.

SO the last couple of days with Tyson has been interesting. He has peed his bed and I woke up this morning and he had pooped in the house twice. He was last let out around midnight. He even went into the bathroom to poop which is odd because he hates baths and avoids the bathroom like the plague. I can't even trick him in there with bacon! He has also started to do a few odd things like staring at the walls blankly. I wondering if he is becoming little senile. I don't mind the potty accidents ( I don't love them but we will manage) There is no way Tyson would ever consent to wearing a diaper. It is just way to undignified for him. In fact I tried one of Ruby's cloth diapers on him just for size guide purposes for another bully parent and he wouldn't "speak" to me for the rest of the day.

I am making an appointment with one of my 2 vets. I have 2, one locally for emergencies so I never have to us the er vet. The one I really trust who is a bulldog specialist who is an hour and a half away. It will probably be a week or so before I can get him there. I am really worried about what the vet will have to say because he is 8 which in bulldog terms is pretty old. Part of me doesn't want to take him because I don't want to hear bad news. I knew what I was getting in to when I adopted him, but that doesn't make this any easier. It may be a little macabre but I worry about him dying at least once a week. He doesn't seem to be in any pain and he is still generally happy . Just wondering if anyone else experienced this? How much longer did your bullies live after this ? Is there anything can do to help him besides diapers? I can't do that to him , it just feels wrong. I need to start thinking about the "end" or am I still ok?

Our Daughter walks him sometimes. Obviously with me trailing close behind almost on top of them. But it is cute to watch how gentle and behaved he is for our littler girl. He never pulls. And even stops for her to pick his leash up !! He lets her lay on top of him and they nap together. They are like best buddies. Anyone elses bulldogs this mellow?
This is the video of them walking together c: Have to click it to open it "/

Hi Everyone-

First-time poster here! My boyfriend and I just brought home our beautiful, 10-week old EB, Lucy, on Monday and she has been doing GREAT! She's been doing very well with the crate/house-training and has been a blast!

I do have one question for the group. I find that oftentimes when I take her out to pee, she will sometimes pee more than once and often if we take her outside just to play in the grass a bit, she'll pee even if she peed less than an hour ago.

She never appears uncomfortable or in any pain, eats most of her food, drinks water, etc., so I don't think it's a UTI but I wanted to see what everyone else thought!

Hi I'm Dianne and I'm new. First of all let me say, I love Dachshunds. What am I doing posting on a Bulldog Forum? Since I was able to spend the day with an English Bulldog named Biscuit I fell in love with the breed. That was two years ago and I have been researching the breed ever since.

I am a stay at home mom, with one grown child that lives with me and my hubby. I loved two dachshunds growing up, and when I was able to stay at home and did not have to work I bought my first dachshund as an adult. She is now a senor dog and an only child so I would never bring a rambunctious bulldog puppy in on her.

Hopefully my little dog has a few more years left so I am in no hurry to purchase my bulldog, but I do want one as my next dog. The thing is I want another dachshund as well and I thought how cute would that be to let them grow up as friends. The only thing I worry about is the total difference in size. I want an English Bulldog male and a Dachshund female, (which will both be fixed at the proper time). Dachshund females are about 8 to 10 pounds, sometimes smaller, and I understand a Bulldog male can be on the average fifty pounds.

I thought maybe getting the dachshund first, and waiting until she is about nine months old to get the bulldog puppy. The reason is, for a very short time the bulldog will be smaller then the dachshund and I can leave it to her to teach this bulldog youngster dog manners. If she can nip, or growl at him if he gets a little rough with her she can establish a respect factor from the bigger breed.

Do you think this is a good idea? Any ideas? Am I worried for nothing?

Wasnt sure where to post this...over here or in other pets. This involves pets but its mainly a rant on people lately. LOL. geesh...

We have two mini horses..one mare and a gelding. We got them in February. We actually started with two geldings that were brothers. The breeder we got them from told us they were just perfect..great with kids...you could do anything with them.
They were fine at her house but when we get home one starts acting up. I'm thinking its just stress..so I let it go for a few days to let him settle in.
My almost 3 yr old wants to ride him. We saddle him up and I get on one side to hold his halter and hubby on the other holding my daughter while shes on him. We walk a little ways and he starts bucking uncontrollably-my husband pulls my daughter off before anything happened-but shes terrified and crying. She doesn't mention it anymore-but I think it really scared her and she has no interest at all in riding anymore.

After that this horse starts going out of his way to bite me. Our other one is a saint..he really is gentle. I tried to work with the "bad" horse but he just wouldnt give.
I called the woman we got them from and wanted to give the one horse back. She wouldnt take him. She told me she wasn't a bank. I actually told her she could just give me less that what I paid for him to take him back.
Instead she made me "trade" him for another horse she has that "just loves kids..loves to be brushed.."
She also mentioned that this horse might be pregnant and that it had to have a csection for its last foal.
This horse we have now isnt much better than the one we traded. She doesnt bite us, and the kids can pet her..but forget about riding. I have almost thought of selling her...really...but the plus side is that we thought she was pregnant..we really want a baby mini horse for the kids to raise and play with.

So after much struggle to get her on the trailer..and to make an appt, we got her ultrasounded.
No baby. I tell the vet who we got her from and that this lady also uses this vet for her horses..and about the c-section.

Vet says..."I disagree with both statements. Everytime one of her horses needed a c-section she opted to have it put down. If one of them needed surgery she handed it over to us and we fixed them and gave them to small children for pets. This horse hasnt had a c-section,isnt pregnant...
We don't do business with her anymore. Shes no good for us."

Can you believe that???? That this woman just outright lied to me? Im really really pissed about it.....It seems people that breed animals now are the ones that are mistreating them. After we learned that about the lady we decided not to sell the mare...Now I just feel sorry for her and we're spoiling her. LOL. I can see now why her horses have such behavioral problems..and we really did just get lucky with the first gelding. He is so sweet and comes to everyone for kisses and back rubs.

We do still want a baby horse..but aren't planning on breeding our mare. I can only imagine what she went through with this lady. =(

On top of all that..im going through some bad things with the breeder that Im getting my eb from...
Scared to say anything about the particular breeder online until after we recieve the dog.

*sigh*

Hello all,
First off, Wally has always been incredibly sweet and gentle and has never had any problems playing with all types of dogs. He is the same around children.
Lately though when we are walking him, he will occasionally lunge and snap at the bigger dogs (not all of them, just once in a while). It's pretty embarrassing and is not indicative of his personality at all. Could it be that he thinks he is protecting us? He plays with bigger dogs all the time off leash when at day care and has no issues. I'd like to find a way to stop this from happening or possibly even getting worse.
Any thoughts?
Thanks as always!

So, when I got Hank (11 month old) he was being fed Nutrisource grain-free chicken formula. It was really hard for me to find that food near me so my vet suggested Canidae. Canidae all life stages was a mixture of chicken, lamb, turkey and fish. Hank was not crazy about it and he started getting facial acne. I brought him back to the vet and was told to change his bowls to stainless steel, which I did, and to maybe change his food to a grain-free and a food that was a single protein. Hank was put on anti-botics and his face looked great. I changed his food to Natural Balance grain free chicken and sweet potato. I did a transition and he is now fully on the Natural Balance. One day his face looks really good and some days it looks like he is breaking out again. He has now started licking his feet...constantly! I started the epsom salt soaks and I put cornstarch in between his toes so they stay dry. I'm not sure if I should change his food again since his face kind of looks like it is clearing but the foot licking is now an issue. I know some bully's are allergic to chicken too but I don't know if that is the case since he was fed a chicken kibble as a baby. He also seems to burp a lot more now than he did on the Canidae and his burps are a little stinky but who's aren't : ) and his poopy has been very consistent, not loose at all, maybe slightly too hard? Just a little confused. I love some opinions!! Thanks guys.

So much so that she just throws her open jowls all over my face. Never had a pup so happy to let a loose jowl rest on my face before. I love it. What kind if kisses do you all have? Would have made a pool out of this but don't know how on tapatalk.:rolleyes:

Gosh I wish I was posting more. I can't seem to get a handle on things, it seems I have no free time.

Bear is a complete moron. Ok in the nicest of ways. He is a mess. I can't keep his nails cut enough and he is having another issue. I think it may be allergies. He got this last year too. He lost a patch of hair, some skin would become crusty and then hair would fall out. It started happening again. He is on special shampoo and antibiotics. Anyone think this might be allergies? Vet just says it can happen sometimes, a dermo thing but ugh I am trying to get him evaluated for stud and he can't have that. He is on Fromm so I don't think I can get any better than that. He had been on it for at least a year before this started to happen, it took a month to clear up last time.

He and the baby are basically inseparable. My favorite is when I am holding her and he lays in my lap too and she grabs his ears and rubs them and falls asleep. ITs fantastic.

Miss all the bullies!!!!

Ok so some photos of course:
