Help!! Is this normal?!?!

So this is the first fall that we have had Max, our 2yr old Olde English bulldog. And he has this place under his neck where he is loosing his fur. Is this normal?! I’m worried!! The only new thing has happened is we boarded Max two weeks ago (for three days) and they gave him a bath. Is this allergies? Dermatitis? -Ashley (Max’s Mommy)

Definitely not normal... if he was younger, I’d say it is mange, but seems it is going to need a vet visit. How long have you use that flea collar

I would get rid of that collar. That could be causing the issue.

I agree with [MENTION=16619]Cbrugs[/MENTION]. I would drop the collar unless it’s something you’ve always used. That is not normal at all.

Flea Collars BAD! Lose it!
Baths are good as long as ALL of the soap is rinsed away. That may not have happened and the residual soap has irritated the skin. Before a vet visit I would re-bathe with a small amount of Johnson’s Baby shampoo and rinse well. Watch for a few days and see if there’s improvement. If no improvement, then a trip to Vet is advised.

Poor Max. In his youth, Castor once tried a spot-on tick prevention that resulted in something similar. Now he gets tablets instead. If the skin is sore/broken and there is a risk of infection, use chlorehexidine shampoo. Check at your vet's what they recommend.

Get rid of the collar. You’re wrapping your doing in pesticide!!! Totally full of chemicals.

If you have NuStock or bag balm put some on. It will grow back . But plz never wrap any dog or pets with pesticide collars. Also if you have children playing n touching that collar n puts their fingers in their mouth..... NOT good!

might have been the shampoo or something else they used, I’d remove the collar till he heals just so it does continue to irritate

As Helene said-put NuStock on the patches. I personally would not use one of those collars.
