These things stink like a barn but the 30+ minutes of pure silent chewing was worth it.

do they make a mess? the one time i gave mine soup bones, the ones with marrow inside, i regretted it for days.

These are hollow, so they don't make a huge mess like the marrow bones, but there is always a certain amount of drool associated with them. I regretted letting the dogs chew them on the couch. If you have a patio, they'd be a good outside chew treat. My sure I'll give them hooves inside again because of the smell.

I have always given hooves to my boxers and bulldogs--they LOVE THEM! I think I'm so used to the smell, I don't notice it anymore. I have leather couches too--good thing because my guys always chew them on the couch. I always thought my boxers and bullies were aggressive chewers...but now I have Jack. He loves the hooves too, but he chews big pieces off and I'm afraid he'll get a blockage. I love the look they get in their eyes when they chew, kind of a dreamy, unfocused eyes look--just loving the chew!
