Aubrey used to do that with apple slices. Heck, she used to do that with anything! If she thought she could hurry and get more if she acted like she was eating it, she would chew quick with pieces spewing all over the place and THEN when she realized she wasn't getting more she would eat the pieces all over the ground. Crazy bullies, I tell ya.
