So I finally switched Benson to adult food this Saturday but according to the bag for a 60-80 lbs dog it recommends 2 1/3 - 3 cups daily. I'm doing 3 but seems Benson still is hungry because he plays with the bowl looking for more. On the puppy bag it said 5 cups a day for the same weight.

Hi, 5 cups a day seems like too much. Most members feed their puppies puppy food 1 cup three times a day, until they are 6 or 7 months of age, and then switch to adult food and reduce the feedings to 1 cup, twice a day.

Agreed! And most bulldogs would eat an entire bag if you let them, so the looking for more is completely normal.

Yeah.... dont let Benson determine how many cups a day he needs! Otherwise he will eat an entire bag if he could!!! Izzy too is always STARVING. Acts all crazy around food as if she was never fed!

I give 2 cups a day and she is 45lbs and almost 2 years old. I have been giving 2 cups since she turned 1 year.... her weight is good too.

Hmmm.... Ok I won't let benson fool me then. He chewed out his feeding bowl last night because of the reduced food. When I was doing 2 1/2 x 2 on puppy food his poo was solid. So ill stick to the 3 cups a day. Benson is 10 months old and weights around 60-70 lbs so he is retaliating when he gnarled his feed bowl.

Well he is a big boy.... You could probably keep him at 3-4 cups a day. But can you post a top view picture so we can see his waistline?

A top pic would help, but 3 cups a day sounds about right. If he starts getting over weight, then you can cut back a bit. It also depends on the type of food you are giving too. We very good quality food requires less food to be fed, as it has less fillers, as a cheaper brand does.

Here is a quick update on his top and side pix. He looks thin from the back (shape of an hour glass) and his legs are pretty long. Just wondering if 3 cups daily is enough for a 60-70 lbs bully.

Meatball is roughly 60 pounds. He gets 2 and a half cups a day with treats in between. Vet says he's perfect. Now he could eat 5 cups if I let him!

Your guy isn't going to starve on 3 cups a day, that's for sure. You want to keep him on the thin side if you want alleviate the genetic joint issues with EB. That is my number 1 dietary concern. I think unless he starts losing weight or acting very lethargic , I'd just stick with 3 cups.

Goob gets 2 cups a day. Once at ten in the morning and once at ten at night. I wouldn't call him overweight but he is a BIG boy. 20131229_135823.jpg20140603_182216.jpg

Ruckus is 68 pounds and gets 2.5 cups per day. I give it to him in the morning and he rations it for himself -- it normally lasts until early evening. I do give him some plain greek yogurt as a treat each night, as well as a few treats throughout the day for being good (like when he lets me clean his wrinkles and tail withouot a fuss -- once I'm done he runs directly over to where I keep the treats) and he is known to get what we refer to as the "puppy burger" (basically just unseasoned beef we cook so he doesn't feel left out) whenever we grill.
