I have heard that theory for years, but never saw anything to back up the theory. How high of a protein are you currently feeding? As I see many bulldogs that are fed raw or home-cooked which is mostly protein and do so well on those diets compared to kibble?

20-27 I would say is low protein actually so no need to worry at all. I feed about 30-32 range but there are foods out there with over 40%. Raw would be higher I think as well as homecooked.

You are fine, that is a very acceptable range of protein and good
for you and your bully...daily exercise! GOD bless you!

There is a lot of ignorance out there passing as knowledge.
Vegetarian diets for dogs (worse, cats too)...OMG!!!
