I've been doing some research on DE and I know some of you use it for your EB. I'm wanting to start using it but I'm not sure how. Do I add it to their food and if so how much and how often? Any help on this is appreciated.

You can add it to their food and also mix it up with water in a spray bottle and spray it on thei coats. We haven't given it to Harlea yet but our cats have been getting it for about a year now and mix a teaspoon with their wet food a couple of time a week. Not sure about the exact dosage for bullies hough. Someone will be along shortly with more info for sure.

Our bullies get about a teaspoon mixed into their kibble each morning. Rub it into their coat if you suspect that they already have fleas. Do not inhale the powder yourself.

Yes, DE is wonderful and you can take it yourself too. Make sure it is
FOOD GRADE, that you or your bully isn't breathing it in.

Start w/a teasp mixed in their water or food then you can work up
to 1 TBSP daily as they weigh more. Same way for you to take.

It can be sprayed on them (rub into the skin) to kill fleas, sprinkled
around and in their crates, bedding, cracks/crevices of house if flea
breakout.

Ticks can be repelled off pets & humans by mixing 1/3 Tea Tree Oil
to 2/3rds water and sprayed on. Also can be added to pet's shampoo,
about 1 capful to an 8 oz bottle. Good for skin irritations, do not put on
broken skin undiluted, too strong & burns!

Fleas can be repelled by slicing 2 lemons in 2 cups water, bring to boil,
cover and let steep a couple of hours, put in spray bottle and again, work
into skin. Can be sprayed on bedding and areas where dogs & cats lay.
This will repell, not kill fleas...DE will kill fleas.

Planting lemon verbana, sage, rosemary around front & back entrances,
deck & patios will keep away mosquitos, fleas, ticks & flies. Wrap sage leaves
around torches for mosquito free, family gatherings. GOD bless!

i think its only a flea preventative if used on the coat externally its for parasites such as worms and has lots of nutrients in it. i did rub it on my bostons for their ticks but its not good if wet and my dogs are constantly wet now its summer and they are in their pools.

Point of fact is...the BEST thing to defend against fleas/ticks/flies/internal parasites
is a healthy immune system. Pests are not attracted to healthy people or animals. I
believe in prevention and so believe in building & keeping a healthy & well functioning
immune system thru out life. This is done with optimum diet & sometimes, supplements.

DE will kill fleas & internal parasites (worms) but not repel them so I use boiled down
lemon oil to repel then DE to kill the ones that hop on & stay. Ticks are killed using Tea
Tree Oil & water mixture so if you have a tick problem, use that weekly. I do use Dawn
Dishwashing Liquid (original) and bath my bully (weekly in the summer) to also help with
flea control, we have quite the problem w/hot, dry, long summers & not enough freezing
days the past 3 winters to kill off pests.

So far, it's working but if it gets overwhelming you can use Comfortis which seems safe
and no side effects I've noticed, it is a short term control which kills all the fleas immediately,
but no repellent or long acting action. I use this occasionally for quick relief & gain control.

My cat was given Frontline in 2008 and was near death 5 days, my dogs seem to tolerate it
well enough (no bullies then) but I just decided, no more poisons if I could do anything else
and NEVER on CoCo again!

Good luck & GOD bless!

Mix it with water in a spray bottle for external use. Don't use the powder directly on thier coats being that if they inhale it you could have some serious lung problems on your hands. We do it once or twice a week.

As Todd @Marine91 suggested, mix it w/water and put in spray bottle.
Ruffle their fur against the grain, apply and rub into skin as best you can.
I try to apply in stripe down the middle of back, around their neck, around
their butt and get their legs & bellies.

DE isn't effective wet but is again, once dry. I dust Cami once a week or every
10 days. In between she gets sprayed w/ lemon oil & water solution which
repels fleas, DE kills them.

Ok...what ratio...i had just been lightlt dusting his coat....everthing said ineffective if wet so i figured mixing it with water would do nothing if sprayed on that way.

I do about half n half and shake really well, it's gotta be diluted enough
to spray out. Dry is fine just be sure to not breath in while applying, if
outdoors, not on windy day
 and avoid bully's face (I do around the
neck and stop there). Also, ruffle that fur against the grain and rub into
the skin UNDER the fur.
