General Question Safe treats

Good morning all! Does anyone use "human" dried fruit like banana chips for treats? Are they safe? Just wondering. Thanks

I've wondered the same thing! Petsmart sells dehydrated apples that Brutus loves, so I would think you could do them at home as well with other fruits, veggies, and meats. I would just be sure to not put any spice or anything like that on there. Let us know how it works out if you try it

Yeah I try not to give the bullies anything that is too "processed" - so it if has a lot of sodium or sugar in it, I avoid giving it to them. I give fresh bananas and carrots and whatever else they'll eat in terms of fruits or veggies.

I only know from my own experience, my 2 don't chew things very well, they generally inhale things, so I don't give them any dried , hard treats, no milk bones, dog cookies, or dried meats. They swallow them and I'm afraid the edges may be too sharp, or hard. I give them wellness soft chew duck and turkey treats, cut up apples, banana, strawberries, plain unsweetened or Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, green beans, cheese strings, and sometimes just a few pieces of their own kibble as a treat.

I tend to use their kibble, carrots, green beans, Fruitables or Real Meat Beef Jerky...... as others have said, dried fruit bought at the store tends to be too processed

if you do it yourself but i would not do the store bought kind. i feed sarah fresh bananas and some strawberries and some store bought treats that are either freeze dried chicken or beef

No grapes and no raisins! My ladies are not big on fruit, but I do dry meats. I cut it very thin, then put it in the oven on the lowest setting (170 F) until it is dried. I turn it frequently. Stores in the refrigerator for about a week. Can be frozen for longer. Beef doesn't really need any seasoning, but the chicken can be dipped in soy sauce if you like. When I make their real food, they like stuff like cumin, turmeric, red curry. I just watch the salt and no sugar.
