Hi all! I am currently on the look out for the best food for my 6 month old bully. He is currently on Nature's Variety Instinct Salmon formula. He seems to do pretty good on it but is extremely gassy (especially at night!) and still has teary eyes. I'm looking for a dog food that does not contain potatoes and good for allergy prone dogs. I've heard Fromm is a great brand for bulldogs. I am wondering if any one has any success stories with these two brands of food? Or any preferences? Thanks! I'm new to this breed of bulldogs so the more input the better:)

Both foods are excellent choices I have used Nature's Variety Salmon for a year and a half. If you go to HOME page scroll down on the left and click on Dog food testimonials you can read my story in the article MEET VEGAS, it will show you pictures of before and after using NVI.

Hello and welcome to EBN!!

Your baby could be sensitive/allergic to something in the food. Have you had allergy testing done (full blood screen)... it will help you know what to avoid/
We feed Fromm Beef... tears stains are gone and no gas issues.

Both are great but you mentioned u were looking for a food without potatoe. If im not mistaking, both have potatoes somewhere in the ingredient.
I recently switched from NVI to a brand called EARTHBORN Hollistic
Its also Grain Free and its Bison meal formula is Potatoe free!
Just yesterdDay I finished the switch over so im hoping to see good to great results in the next week or si..

EDIT : I stand corrected, NVI does not have Potatoes..

I switched for Fromm Beef to NVI salmon to something we are happy with now. TOTW prairie, it's a bison/venison base grain free, they love it. I get it from PetFlow, whom I am also very happy with.

Im using Earthborn Praire Feast Its protein source is Bison.. NVI. Is also very good , as is FROMM. I've just been switching until i find the right one.. Im starting to think that my Jack's Tear Stains are not Food related ..

lola has minor tear stains but really our kibble switches are due to her tastes...wellness puppy to fromm beef, surf & turf, duck...to NVI chicken...sometimes Acana (which gives her major bum rotting gas), to whatever she will eat. she likes the acana but we dont like our dog smelling like poop. we're still on the road to a right kibble.
