King Ollie
Ollie is named after Oliver Hardy of Laurel and Hardy fame. They’re an old time comedy team. Stan Laurel used to always say, “We’ll this is another fine mess you’ve gotten us into Ollie.” John and I used to say that to each other at times. The KING OLLIE HOUSE OF BULLDOG is because I’m a GAME OF THRONES Fangirl.

Maui and Moana
I wanted to name him Mauka [Mao-kuh] which means Mountain in Hawaiian, but my kids and husband said that was too complicated so they stuck with “Maui”. So then, we ended up getting a female EB and the kids begged to name her “Moana” haha it was only right.

Remington and Ruger
I'm a gun guy so my first one was named Remington aka Remy. Second one was originally named Hefty but he was young so we changed it to Ruger. My older dog was a little confused at first with them both beginning with R but she figured it out pretty quick.

Bogey was named for my horrible golf game! ( Should have named him Double Bogey!) Jackson came with his name, we felt it fit him so we are keeping it.

Bruce
I always wanted a male dog called Bruce. Imagined a big dog wearing a leather jacket....biker Bruce Haha.

My partner has always wanted a bulldog so when we met him I just looked at him and he was a Bruce. Couldn't imagine him being called anything else now. It really suits him

Meaty, Sophie, & sometimes fosters
Ohhh, I LOVE this thread!!!

I quoted a few small parts of several replies, but it didn't work.
Sooo many unique, adora-bull stories behind the names.

Our first puppy was MEATY (he's 12 and 1/2 now, which freaks me out!)
Hubbs and I were going through lots of names, and he thought ARCHIMEDES
(ancient Greek known for mathematics) would be cool, and I liked it, too.
So his ACTUAL name is Archimedes, shortened to Meaty. I just love that
he has a unique, formal name, but since bulldogs are sooo beefy and meaty,
it's pawfect!

(P.S. I've heard of bulldogs name PotRoast (LOL!) , Beefy, and other food-related
names that crack us up!

SOPHIE
With our second puppy, we had her a while and wanted her to have a name
that really fit her personality. We considered Petunia, Molly, Bubbles, and others,
but something about her sweet face said Sophie.

For a while, I reallly wanted "Bubbles", but hubbs didn't like it. She was so much
more frisky / assertive than Meaty, so Rapscallion was another of her
middle names. Sophie Bubbles Rapscallion Lastname

We've had a few fosters/ adoptees.
As we all know, it's best to leave them with
the name they've always had, but we had one that just had the WORST name,
we definitely changed it. He was very elderly bulldog (awww, I still miss him!),
so I don't think he really MINDED that we called him something different.

One foster name we LOVED that fit this girl sooooo perfectly was DAPHNE.
She lived with us for 10 months, and we realllly wanted to adopt her, but
Sophie attacked her a lot. Thankfully, Daphne went to a wonder-bull family!

Gabe's full Registered name is "Gable Patton Der Panzer Jager". The wife loves Clark Gable and the movie Patton, I like building tank models and the German words "Der Panzer Jager" is "Tank Hunter" in English. Hence the name. But Gabe for short or just "Knucklehead". That's my boy.

Gilbert
Hubby travels to Arizona weekly (mostly in the valley). It was narrowed down to Winslow, Chandler, or Gilbert. He looked like a Gilbert! His full name is "Sir Gilbert of House (insert last name)"...GOT fans here.
