IMHO I think bulldogs feel something deeper then love, I don't know what you would call it but I think it would be on the same par as the emotions and feelings that angels of God have. It's a super natural thing that we'll never understand.

Oh my gosh...great answer, Phil! I will never forget the moment I experienced
this with my 1st bully, Brutus, a rehome that had been passed around his entire
life, excessively crated & mostly forgotten & ignored by the different ignorant
a$$es that had him. At 4 or 5 yrs old, he wasn't potty trained and didn't know
how to play, with toys or people. I'd owned him about 2 months and getting a
bit peeved at his lack of progress in the potty area. One day, just frustrated, I
got angry and yelled at him. He thought I was going to harm him & this look of
complete terror was in his eyes as he cowered before me, waiting for the blows
& kicks he knew were coming. It broke my heart, I'm in tears now, recalling it,
ashamed of myself. I fell to my knees and gathered him to me and just sobbed
at the people who'd done this to this awesome dog. I promised him a forever
home and no matter if he never learned to pee outside, I didn't care, he was
loved, he was safe, he was awesome & perfect. We got up and it was different.
Brutus understood what I said and even more, somehow, he trusted me. He did
learn to potty outside and did learn to play, loved going every where and when
he looked at me, so much adoration shining in his eyes, I knew I'd always adopt,
rehome or rescue the unwanted bullies needing what I could & would give them.
It all started with Brutus, he lives with Jesus now and I miss him every day <3

Yes, I can see Love in Elmo's Eyes and the way he wags his big butt when he sees me come into the room.

Pretty much I think. Certainly not exactly the same but love is there.
