Meet Mr. Personality, otherwise known as Rocket! Rocket is just 1.5 years old, and is a sturdy 52 pound English Bulldog who loves everyone he meets. If you are a person, dog or cat, Rocket would like to meet you and hang out. Rocket's foster mom describes him as one of the best dogs she has ever fostered.
Rocket loves to be around people so much, that his number one wish is a home where an adult is with him during the day. He aims to please and is eager to show affection to his people with hugs and kisses. Due to his size, a home without very young children is recommended. Depending on his owner's work environment, Rocket may enjoy going along to work, but he would especially love to meet someone who works from home.
Toys are also high on Rocket's list of favorite things. He particularly enjoys his soccer ball, and fancies himself an athlete. Squeaky toys, kongs and bully sticks are also very desirable treasures to this young man. Occasionally his mom's shoes have become toys, even if they weren't meant to be. A fenced yard is not required, as Rocket prefers to hang out close to his people, whether inside or outside. If you like to take a daily stroll, Rocket would love to accompany you. In spite of his name, he has more of a swagger than a sprint to his walk. His foster mom will tell you that Rocket tends to get antsy if he doesn't get his daily walk.
Rocket was surrendered to SNORT from an owner who purchased Rocket and his brother as puppies and soon realized 2 bulldogs were more than he could handle. Rocket was in need of cherry eye surgery when he first entered rescue. After 3 eye surgeries, Rocket is finally on the mend. He will need a dedicated owner willing to take him for future ophthalmology checks and one who is able to financially meet his medical needs. He also takes daily medication for allergies as well as weekly medicated baths and a grain free diet.
An ideal home for Mr. Personality would involve an experienced pet owner. Rocket has some separation anxiety and has been known to urinate on his bed or blanket if confined in small areas. He will need continued behavioral work in his adoptive home. Due to his size, age and activity level, he also will need a home with ample room to play. He probably would not be well suited to apartment life.
If you are looking for a young dog who is bursting with a great personality, and are able to help Rocket with his behavior training, fill out a SNORT adoption application today!
