There isn't a name for more fitting for a dog than Liberty because that exactly describes the life Liberty has been leading since being sprung from a puppy mill.

Liberty, a five-year-old female English bulldog, was rescued from a puppy mill and has found a brand new life in foster care. And now she's ready to move on to her forever home!

As her foster family has discovered, there are few experiences more rewarding than watching a puppy mill dog blossom in life outside the mill. Liberty has discovered so many fun things in her short time in foster care. She has discovered toys (Nylabones and squeaky toys are among her favorite), cuddling, affection and a warm, comfortable home.

One of the most important things Liberty's foster family has learned is that she just wants to be near her people. She is happiest cuddling with her humans and being as close to them as possible.

Her temperament matches that of a typical bulldog; Liberty is very laid back but don't let her get away with no physical activity! She is more than capable and even enjoys daily walks. A fenced-in yard would be even better as it would allow her to enjoy fresh air and room to safely explore.

Everything is so new to Liberty and a slow introduction to anything new – people, noises, etc. – is necessary so that Liberty can take her own time getting acclimated to new experiences. But don't mistake that for being scared; Liberty is actually quite inquisitive but just likes to check things out on her own time. Standard for a bulldog, for sure!

To help ease into her new life, though, a calm environment is necessary. For that reason, young children might not be ideal, but she's been tremendous with all of the older children she's met since coming to SNORT.

Liberty is also currently being fostered with a cat and two dogs and gets along well with all of them. She's slowly learning how to play and her foster siblings are certainly helping that process along.

This sweet girl has also proven to be a quick learner. She's already picked up on a few basic obedience commands and she is making great progress with housebreaking. Her new family should be sure to keep up with the basic obedience training because she's proven to be a quick and receptive student!

Despite spending her first five years of life in a puppy mill, Liberty has few health issues. She does seem to be uncomfortable using steps, so a single story home would be ideal for her. She has been spayed and only requires daily eye drops for dry eye, a very common bullie problem. And as with most wrinkly dogs, grain-free food and a quality skin cleaning routine are musts.

Liberty does not necessarily need someone who is home during the day (although she'd be ecstatic if that were the case!) and is fine with free roam of the house, but she would need at least a midday check in. Or better yet, make her your work companion! A calm office environment would be perfect for Liberty.
