Meet Butterbean

Let me introduce myself, my name is Butterbean and I am the spokes-dog who inspired the formation of English Bulldog Rescue of Georgia. This non-profit organization has made it their mission to help abused, sick and neglected bulldogs just like me.
My story starts off like those that we rescue. Let’s just say that I have a tale to tell. I was found in an abandoned lot with severe demodex mange, malnutrition and dehydration. I was rescued at a mere 6 months of age. My little feet were swollen and made walking very painful. I was taken to the local vet who wanted to put me to sleep. But one of the assistants at the vet wanted the vet to give me a chance. I was transferred to Florida English Bulldog rescue and then to my new family (now English Bulldog Rescue of Georgia). When I arrived I know I smelled horrible, and eventually all of my fur fell out. Once I was with my new caregivers, I knew they were going to keep me forever. I had them wrapped around my swollen paw! I went on a strict food trail with the doggie doctors and eventually I got on a specific dog food that helped with my condition. After 1 year of being treated, I am healthy and happy now in my new home. As a result of my past I have a hard time being on my little feet and my breathing makes it difficult and sometimes impossible for me to get out and go places.
As the spokes dog of the English Bulldog Rescue of Georgia it is important that I get out into the community and let everyone know about the need to help rescue the bulldogs and all animals from pain and suffering. Since I was originally rescued from the Florida English Bulldog Rescue, I want to tell them I love & thank them for giving me the chance to live, and to be a part of something so important!
If your bulldog has any patches of hair loss/itchiness, you may want to get them checked for Mange. The sooner it is found the easier it is to treat. Even extreme cases of mange can be treated with a little love proper daily care. Don't give up on your bully!
