Layla before cherry eye surgery
Meet Layla
About a year ago, the IBR (Indiana Bulldog Rescue) was called to do a surrender for a 1 year old female bulldog. She has food allergies, a skin disorder that causes her to lose large sections of her fur, had an ear infection, a Staph infection on her face & tummy and needed Cherry eye surgery. The rescue Director asked Nikki if she could pick her up and keep her for a few days until she found a foster home…Nikki agreed.

Layla's missing fur from her skin disorder
Nikki will never forget that day. When she arrived everyone was in tears. It had just started to rain when her prior owner opened the car door and a little bullie ran right to her and jumped in her arms and licked her face . "It seemed like something straight out of a movie", said Nikki. She remembers looking back at Layla and thinking “this little girl looks terrible…she must feel bad”.

Once they got home, Nikki tried her best to do a slow introduction with the bulldogs already in her family; but before she could get a leash on Layla, she took off….tackled Winston (her other english bulldog), humped him and stole his toy, jumped up on the sofa and fell asleep ~in which she still does this. "She fit right in. Even though we had no plans of adopting again any time soon…I knew she would never leave my house" -per Nikki.
And Look At Layla Now!
