Here is Dinah's story:

Dinah is a 14 week old deaf English Bulldog that was turned over to rescue by her breeder. Dinah has a MAJOR & rare heart disorder that needs corrective surgery ASAP. This surgery could prolong her life up to 6 years. If she does not receive this surgery she will not see her first birthday. She has been to multiple specialists and this is the only thing that will save her life. She is a sweet little girl that is full of life and just needs a chance.

Midlands Kittens Rescue is trying to raise money for this sweet girls heart surgery. As the name states we are usually just a cat/kitten rescue but when asked to help this sweet little puppy we couldn't turn her away. We are a small rescue here in the Midlands of SC and we need the communities support. Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated. Please pass this around to friends, family and co-workers.

One of our members here at English Bulldog News is hopefully going to be Dinah's new family.

For those of you who do not know Leslie, she has been searching for a deaf English Bulldog almost 3 years. This may sound strange without knowing why so I will tell you. In 2007 Leslie became the happy mother of a eng/olde bulldogge hybrid. He was perfect in every way but she always noticed how non-chalant he was about noises. When he was about 6 months old she called her vet and asked them how she could tell if he was deaf. They said a simple at home test was to get a can with change and shake it close enough he would hear it but not where he could see it. After trying this and even having people come to her door and knock, they were confirmed that he was deaf. Upon finding this out she made it a mission to find out as much as she possibly could about canine deafness. To Leslie, he was no different from any other dog except that he now had to be trained with hand signals. Little did she know she was already doing that, and that is how he learned his basic commands. When he was a little over a year and thriving (having learned over 20 signs) her baby became ill and was in kidney failure. He never made it to any treatment or surgery and passed a few weeks later. He touched her heart in a way that forever changed her, and she knew that she had to help these special dogs.

From Leslie: "A few days ago I received a message from a friend on Facebook who is the Administrator of English Bulldog News named Lisa. She informed me of a deaf English Bulldog puppy in South Carolina and that she had not been spoken for/adopted yet, and maybe I would be interested in adopting her. The first thing I did was cry because it seemed that fate had pulled me to her. I then learned that she needed a life saving heart surgery and her donations had not been met, I knew I had to help her. Because without this surgery I will not be given the chance to give her a home with love and knowledge of deaf dogs."

"I plan on giving her the love and training that she needs to live a long and happy life if we get to adopt her. I am also hoping to register Dinah as a therapy dog after her training and to do volunteer work with schools for deaf children. My plans for the future are to start a rescue for deaf and disabled bullies, where they will have the best start possible and be given the love and understanding with someone that has the knowledge and will give them the tools they need to thrive. I also plan on doing a lot of outreach work to educate people about deaf dogs . The sad truth is a lot of these puppies that are deaf and disabled are put down, but they can give a long and healthy life as well as be trained just like any other dog. I want to show people that these dogs can be trained and are not handicapped nor do they deserve to be euthenized. If I do get to adopt Dinah she will be my Advocate for this Rescue."--Leslie

May have found a specialty vet here in FL to do her surgery and Bella'sMom is going to ask her vet about it tomorrow. Hopefully this will mean she won't have to go to VA for her surgery. I have been posting my tail off and will keep posting and sharing!!!

If you cannot donate the $11 for a raffle but still want to donate a little towards Dinah's surgery, you can donate to Midlands Kitten Rescue DIRECTLY using this Chip In:

ChipIn: Dinah- Needs heart surgery

We are soooo close. Between the $300 they have and the $600+ from the raffle, we only need to sell about 20-25 more raffle tickets!
