MAY I GO - by Susan A. Jackson

Do you think the time is right?
May I say goodbye to pain filled days and endless lonely nights?

Iā€™ve lived my life and done my best, an example tried to be.
So can I take that step beyond, and set my spirit free?

I didnā€™t want to go at first, I fought with all my might.
But something seems to draw me now to a warm and loving light.

I want to go, I really do; itā€™s difficult to stay.
But I will try as best I can to live just one more day.

To give you time to care for me and share your love and fears.
I know youā€™re sad and afraid, because I see your tears.

Iā€™ll not be far, I promise that, and hope youā€™ll always know,
that my spirit will be close to you wherever you may go.

Thank you so for loving me. You know I love you too,
and thatā€™s why itā€™s hard to say goodbye and end this life with you.

So hold me now just one more time and let me hear you say,
because you care so much for me, youā€™ll let me go today.

That was sad I can't imagine saying bye to Mia. I know I'm going to have to one day but I don't want that to come anytime soon. Sorry for all who have lost a puppy or dog (family).

To those that have owned and had to say goodbye to a bully, this really hits deep. I share your pain and have been there. Long live the love for the bully!

I have sadly been without a bulldog now for 5yrs. I am excited to be getting a new one in march 2015! My heart will forever be with my old BD.

I'm sorry for your loss, it doesn't matter how long it's been, everyone handles and processes their grief in their own way and time. There is no time limit to how we feel, there are no words that anyone can say that will make you feel better. They are always in our hearts, and we will never forget them. They take a piece of our hearts with them when they go, and they leave a paw print on our hearts. Only time heals our pain and grief, and eventually the tears are replaced with a smile when we remember them, or something they did that makes us remember the happy times with them, then other times those same memories will make the tears fall again, but that is okay because we aren't supposed to forget them, and they are forever etched in our hearts.
