I am looking for flea treatment recommendations. I used Dawn soap the blue original formula on Miss Porkchop. I also, used Skin So Soft by Avon for a temporary relief . I got home from work and she was bitten by them fleas left her bleeding. I was crushed to find her this way. I never experienced this before.

I am not sure if a vet prescription is needed . This is my first time dealing with this mess.

Thank you

I just made a big batch...trust me it WORKS!

FOR TICKS/FLEAS

14 oz of Witch Hazel
12 drops of Lavender
15 drops of Citronella
15 drops of Lemongrass

Also I add a couple drops of pure lavender on top of the collar.
NO need but....you can add like 1/4 cup of a carrier oil to keep skin moist.

If you have fleas in the house, you will have to treat the house, furniture, carpets, etc.

You mean the foggers that you have to leave the house for like 6-8 hours?

Another natural treatment is to spray dog with solution of 50% apple cider vinegar and 50% water.

I would go the chemical route temporarily.
Wash all bedding in hot, soapy water
Vacuum all carpets, hardwood floors, linoleum and tiled floors, and throw away the vacuum bag
Choose and apply an environmental flea control like methoprene, or call a local exterminator
Choose and apply a spray, pellet, or non-toxic treatment for your yard
Continue to treat your dog and any other pets with a monthly preventative ( eg. K9 Advantix II https://www.amazon.com/Bayer-Advantix-Mosquito-Prevention-Large/dp/B004QN0M2S).

I went to my local moms and pops petshop got her a shampoo and conditioner 2 n 1 Hemp kind. I washed her with Dawn soap earlier and again tonight with the new shampoo. The owner recommended me Spot on . I give her a bath then in the morning apply spot on between her shoulder blades. It’s a 4 month supply. I will go back Thursday to pick up the spray for the home so the flea eggs can die . I am feeling at ease. My girl is super tired after too many washes in one day. She’s exhausted.

If you don’t have the oils for the mix, you can use only peppermint oil. BUT yes a BUT... if you have a cat you CANNOT use peppermint oil. Peppermint oil will kill the eggs... I would definitely spray all linens once washed.. here’s a great link I keep in my favorites that explains properly about fleas n peppermint oil. Make sure you follow their steps. It’s actually very simple steps.

I am out of lemon oil. I did get witch hazel and lavender oil mix together and rubbed it on her . Fleas are still there. I will buy something for the apt on Thursday. Hope the eggs and fleas die.

I do have peppermint oil .

DO NOT use lemon oil. Citrus is not good for pets. Lemongrass is not a citrus. Why lemongrass is great to use.

Update on my girl, we learned she’s probably got Cushing Disease says the vet. In order to confirm it she has to prove diagnosis, I need to get x-rays and a shot. I am feeling hopeful my girl will be ok. Anyone got more information on Cushing for dogs forum or other resources be helpful. Thank you in advance.
