[h=2]DIY PET-FRIENDLY CLEANING PRODUCTS[/h]

As a pet owner, you want to ensure your pets stay happy and healthy for many years to come. One way to do this is by ensuring they aren’t exposed to harmful products. Unfortunately, many common household cleaners can be toxic to cats and dogs. To keep your pets (and yourself) safe, consider making your own pet-friendly products with these recipes!
[h=3]Countertops[/h]
  • 2 cups of vinegar
  • 2 cups of water

  1. Combine all of the ingredients into a spray bottle
  2. Spray on your counter
  3. Wipe clean
Tip: 10 to 15 drops of tea tree oil will add to the disinfecting power of this spray!
[h=3]Floors[/h]
  • 1 part vinegar
  • 2 parts warm water

  1. Combine all of the ingredients into a bucket
  2. Apply to your floor with a rag or mop
[h=3]Toilet bowl[/h]
  • ½ cup of baking soda
  • 10 drops of tea tree oil
  • ¼ cup of vinegar

  1. Pour the baking soda and essential oil into the toilet
  2. Add the vinegar and scrub the entire bowl
[h=3]Toilet seat[/h]
  • 1 cup of vinegar
  • 3 to 5 drops of lemon oil or tea tree oil

  1. Combine all of the ingredients into a spray bottle
  2. Spray the seat and outside surface of the toilet as needed
  3. Wipe clean
[h=3]Disinfectant[/h]
  • 2 cups of water
  • 3 tablespoons of castile soap
  • 20-30 drops of tea tree oil

  1. Combine all of the ingredients into a spray bottle
  2. Spray on any surface in need of disinfecting
  3. Wipe clean
While these DIY cleaning products are much safer than most store-bought cleaners, caution should still be practiced when using them. Ensure your floors and other surfaces have dried before letting your pets come into contact with them and store the cleaning supplies away from curious pets!
If at any time you think your pet has come into contact with a toxic substance, contact your veterinarian or the Pet Poison Helpline. If you have coverage with Pets Plus Us, your call is free as part of your Blue Ribbon Benefits. Refer to your User Guide for the phone number or call us at 1-800-364-8422. If you don’t have Pets Plus Us pet insurance coverage, you can contact the Pet Poison Helpline at 1-800-213-6680 with any questions or concerns. Please be aware there is a $49.00/per case fee, but it may save your pet’s life!
