Im currently taking my vet to court. I think my vet gave my dog to much . anesthesia The vet had never done a c section on a bulldog before but where i live i didn't have much choice. So took my dog in and 6 out of 7 pups died. I was told that they were all born alive but where having respiratory problems and slowing faded away. Thats all I got for answer. Can anyone help me with info on how to proove that they gave to much anesthesia ?

I am so very sorry. My heart breaks for you because this also happened to me. First of all, in my case, they used Isoflurine and propofol. Also the c section took over an hour. With bulldogs only iso should be used and it should take 15 mins or less to remove the puppies. Unfortunately if you signed a no fault agreement prior you will not be able to do anything about it. :(

So sorry for the loss of your pups. That's the bad thing about using a vet that does not do c-sections that much or does not know EB's. Lucky you did not loose the mom too. When breeding it is very important to use a vet that knows the breed well and does a lot of c-sections, even then you that a chance of loosing pups or worse the mom too. Like desertskibulldogs said if you signed a no fault agreement before, there is nothing you can do. We are fortunate here in the Houston area to have an excellent EB vet, he does this all the time and is a fertility expert. He is just wonderful and would not trust my bullies to anyone else. Again so sorry for your lose.

Thanks Everyone. I have found out that they used 1cc Ket. and 1 cc Val. Also the C section took over for hours according to the records the Vet kept on her.

Man an hour ??!!?? that's too long. Our vet has a room next to the operating room with a big window in it so we can watch the whole thing. He has 2 attendants with him. He will get a pup out and check it over and pass it off to one of the attentents and they will clean them and give them O2 if needed and place them in the incubator. Last time BeBe had 9 pups and it only took about 30 or 40 minutes. we are blessed to have such a wonderful bully vet. I feel bad for you, it is tough loosing pups, so sorry.

Very sorry to hear this but, unfortunately anytime you put a dog under you run the risk of loosing them or their pups. And as stated earlier, if you signed and agreement with you vet clearing them of any damages then you simply don't have a case. That's why most all vets have you sign something because it is so easy to loose a dog when put under.

By many names depending on the situation?
My deepest sympathy for you and for the situation,

Not much else to say that has not already been stated. Breeding EBD are one of the hardest breeds to work with due to so many limitations to breed and c-sections. I am ALSO very lucky to have 3 EXCELLENT vets that have done c-sections for many years. I have narrowed down to 2 Vet specialists rather than all 3. The 3rd one is a single vet practice and does not work night or weekends. The other 2 vet clinics have multiple vets, on call, and are available for nights, weekends, holidays and emergencies.

I have not had any loss in deliveries so I do not have any more to offer.

But for ANYONE else reading these posts…make sure you ASK your vet if they specialize, not just see Bulldogs. Many vets will SEE bulldogs as patients, but unless they SPECIALIZE in working with them, AND have experience with C-Sections….move on.

Good Day~
