So itā€™s time to get my dogs tested. My girl is obviously a black Merle. My boy is a chocolate tri. Iā€™m
Looking into color testing. Some of the tests arenā€™t necessary but Iā€™m a little overwhelmed on which tests I actually should do. Should I go and ahead and do a full panel color testing + Merle test on both of them? Should obvious merles even get color tested? Help. Iā€™ve been googling and looking through Facebook groups and forums and canā€™t seem to find the answer Iā€™m looking for. In my research I did find that a majority of testing facilities do have ā€œEnglish bulldog testing panelsā€ that already have the required health tests that are necessary.. so that question was answered :)

Please excuse my ignorance, but why is colour testing necessary? Is it for breeding purposes only?

Some of us do colour testing to insure not to get the Breed standard's undesired colours and some do to get them.
