The last 2 weekends have been busy for Bella and me. We have been "showing off" at various events.
On Nov 28/29 there was 2 rings of FCI and 2 rings of Mysore Kennel Club (MKC).
On Dec 05 there was 2 rings of Bangalore Canine Club (BCC).
So a total of 6 rings.
Results in summary
FCI Ring 1 - Bella did not co-operate with her handler/trainer; he was not confident and she just would not stay still or walk properly (no placement)
MKC Ring 1 - I stepped in the ring and handled her; my first time. Bella was placed 2 of 3 in her class (junior class)
MKC Ring 2 - Handled by me; Bella was placed 2 of 2 in her class
FCI Ring 2 - Handled by me; Bella was not in the mood and told all of us to buzz off (no placement)
BCC Ring 1 - Bella was placed 2 of 3 in her class
BCC Ring 2 - Bella was placed 2 of 2 in her class
It was an eye opener for me as I got a chance to see other bulldogs and compare Bella's growth, gait and general behavior.
She is small for her age (14 months) as compared to the other bullies that were there.
Weight wise she is a little above official breed standard; 19 Kg or 42 lbs. I intend to keep her at this or a max of 20 Kg.
Activity/energy/stamina wise she was definitely the most impressive bully.
I was really amazed that she did 3 full days of about 8 hours each on her feet. She was just too excited even to lie down and snooze.
In fact, she was the only bully that was visible outside the ring. The others were hidden away in either crates or in cars.
So naturally, Bella got a boat load of "oohs and aahs". Many people came in search of our benching area to take pics with her.
All said we had a really fun time in the show ring; stumbling, making mistakes and learning from them.
We as an amateur team really did "show off". The next time around, we will be better.
I have promised Bella that I will train myself to properly handle and show her next time around.
Here are some pics of us at the event. Most of them are not great resolution as many were shot with my cell phone.
My L'il Pirate A mandatory "butt" pose; she always manages one
In the ring with her handler/trainer. He does not know bulldogs. Bella squirming during "touchy, feely" by the judge.
With me in the ring; first time for both of us together. Totally unprepared and definitely under dressed for the ring.
But I had to intervene after the disaster with the handler.
In the next ring the next day. I decided to dress up for her.
