Hi all,

i am getting my first bulldog. Lots of friends told me to might as well aim for shows which will also add things to do with my bulldog.
Does anyone able to tell me what sort of training one needs to do to prepare his dog for showing?
Are there such information for me to learn prepare my puppy?

Thank you all.

regards

I would wait until he is about 4 months old then introduce the leash to him. take your time and let him get used to it. Once he has accepted the leash and follows you around, then you can start to practice walking him and turning then stop, and have him stand there and look at you. Usually a treat in your hand helps. Also get him used to stacking. This will take a lot of practice. Once he gets close to 6 months of age, find a confirmation class or get with someone who can train you for confirmation, then go to some shows to get some practice. Then have some fun.

David has got it covered. Depending on the pup it can be easy or if you get a real live one, you have your hands full, but it's fun too. What I use to do with my Voitto is stack him many times a day, even in the middle of play time, just once and when he's good I let him go.

Thank you for the advice. Is there any reference where i can rely on? I mean i am very new here and not sure what sort of stand is preferred, or are there specific walk that is needed for Bulldog..... Thanks

Just the normal bulldog walk will do, but the head needs to be up, not looking down. Go to some dog shows in your area and watch them and talk to the handlers there. See if there is a local bulldog club in your area and join. You can get a lot of help from them. Here is a pic of Ares stacked, he is a friend of mine boy, I just love this boy.
