    That Day

    Author Libra926

    I close my eyes
    As I remember that day
    So much has happened
    So much left to say.

    I thought I was helping
    When I answered that call
    Never truly expecting
    How hard I would fall.

    The moment I saw you
    My heart skipped a beat
    "You're Gorgeous! Sweet Boy!
    Wow! Look at your feet!"

    Your eyes - so soulful
    Your heart so pure
    You are full of love
    This one thing I'm sure.

    You mean no harm
    You are just misunderstood
    Never having a home,
    on the brink of boyhood.

    You're skittish, you won't eat
    You're a scared little boy
You perk up! You light up!
    "Is this a treasured toy?"

    "A laser? You want this?
Can you give me a kiss?"
    Excitement! So Joyous!
    You're in heavenly bliss!

    You jump and you play
    Like the puppy you are.
    Never once was I afraid
that you would leave me a scar.

    With your olive nose
    And your alluring green eyes.
    The day finally came
    When we said our goodbyes.

    Your look - Sweet Aldo
That you gave me that day,
It haunts me. It kills me.
    I didn't mean to betray!

It was a home! Your home!
    I had not a clue.
    I wouldn't have sent you
    If only I knew!

    I drop to my knees
    With tears in my eyes.
    I beg your forgiveness
For these half truths and half lies.

There are stories and more stories
    Of what happened that day.
    Half truths and untruths
With a single soul left to pay.

    So precious. So stunning.
    15 months and a day
    When God called you up
    Heaven's beautiful stairway.

    RIP sweet baby boy

I looked at the calendar last night and said a prayer for Aldo. Taken from this earth way too early.

      An owner's creation
Not the pup's fault at all
      Take heed new Pack Leader
      You've got the ball

Sorry. Wait. No I'm not sorry at all.

I just reread my poem and it makes my arm hairs stand on end. Thank you Vickie.....your poem was sweet. @Vicaroo1000

      Whether a creation from fault
      Or a creation from love
      It's a creation of honor
      And knowing who waits above.
