My name is John-Kevin Pierre. I was born & raised in French Canada. Montreal, Quebec to be more precise. My family is originally from Haïti. Throughout my entire childhood, I was very fearful of all dogs. Until I my uncle bought his Labrador, Blacky, when I was about 12 years old. It didn't take very long for me to realize that I was a dog lover. I spent most of my time with him and it made me discover how much I love the company of dogs. Then I met my fiancée, Sophie. Her father owns a wonderful German Shepherd / Rottweiler mix named Manix.
My father in law went on many trips for his job and would require us to watch over his dog while he was gone. Manix wasn’t trained. He pulled on his leash and lunged at other dogs. He was the first dog I had to train myself. I ended up taking a 6 months course on how to train dogs at my local dog training center where I met my first English Bulldog. After just seeing one, I knew I wanted one. A few years later, we were at the National Salon of Pets where they also held CKC dog shows. We were able to see show quality English Bulldogs with our very own eyes for the first time and that was all it took. By that same time next year, we were participating at that very same show with our boy Biggie Smalls.

In search for our boy, we went through a lot. We met some of the worst people there was to meet. Anyone who knows me knows I am not a big fan of breeders in general. Most breeders will give you a great speech but will never follow through. We also had the chance to meet some great people. Biggie was the very first choice we made when we started looking for an English Bulldog.

But by the time we had contacted the breeder to get him, he was already sold and his only brother wasn’t available as a show quality dog due to a hernia.

So we went on searching again. After a week, we got a phone call from the breeder saying that the man who bought Biggie was very sick in the hospital and wasn’t going to be able to keep him. My girlfriend really wanted him but by that time, I was looking at some other puppies. But throughout our relationship, I was always the one picking out which dogs we get, so I decided to let her have this one and we got him. I’m so glad we have him. There were so many things that stood in our way but I think I can say that I finally have my perfect dog. From temperament to appearance, he is exactly what anyone would look for in a dog.
The road to championship:
The reason I called him Biggie Smalls is actually not because of the rapper Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie Smalls. I called him Biggie Smalls after the goldfish in the movie “My Super Ex-Girlfriend”. I just thought it very well represented a small animal with a big character… and I also happen to like the rapper Biggie. Biggie adjusted to our home very quickly.
(Biggie at 2 months old)
Since he was only 2 months and 1 week old, I think he only had 4 or 5 accidents inside the house in his entire life. He was potty trained within a week. All of our dogs are usually potty trained that quickly. He was entirely obedience trained by my girlfriend who did an amazing job with him. At the age of 6 months old, Biggie & I started our show career. It has been extremely tough because Biggie is an overly social dog. Standing still is not exactly his forte.
(Biggie in handling classes)
We took handling classes and got better. We still take those classes to this day. We have lots of fun training and showing. After 6 shows and at the age of 14 months, Biggie earned enough points to become a Canadian Champion.

It was a wonderful moment for us. I was overwhelmed with such a great sense of accomplishment. Biggie Smalls is a dream come true for me. We intend to keep showing him until he earns his Grand Champion title. Wish us luck!
